There’s something about traveling that expands me and it can also stretch my nervous system in ways I don’t always love. New environments, different energies, disrupted routines...I love it, but it’s also a lot.

That’s why over time; I’ve created a spiritual travel routine that comes with me wherever I go. These aren’t just “things” in my suitcase, they’re anchors! They help me feel grounded, connected, and fully myself no matter where I land.

Every time I pack, these are non-negotiables:

  1. My essential oils and my waterless bubble diffuser (by doTerra) always make the trip. The diffuser is actually motion-activated, it gently releases scent as I walk by. There’s something almost magical about that. The blend I use most often is Serenity, and every time it fills the air, I instantly feel calm, like I’ve created a little sanctuary wherever I am. I also wear essential oils as perfume, not just because they smell beautiful, but because they support my body too…relaxing muscles, easing allergies, and helping me stay balanced.

  2. Then there’s my Healy device. If you’ve ever heard the phrase “high vibes,” this is one of the ways I support mine. I love running individualized microcurrent bioenergetic frequency programs, especially when I travel, to support my immune system and overall well-being. It’s like an energetic tune-up that keeps me aligned and resilient.

  3. Of course, I also travel with crystals...probably more than I technically need, but what do you do? They do add a bit of weight to my suitcase, so I try to be mindful, but I always bring a handful, and I usually tuck one or two into my clothing. Yes, in my bra. And yes, I sometimes wonder what TSA must think assuming they notice, but it makes me smile.

  4. Oracle decks are another must for me. I used to pack full-sized decks, but they added up quickly in weight, so I found a solution... 1I started buying pocket versions of my favorites. Problem solved...sort of. Now I just have two sizes of many decks! But having them with me allows me to check in, receive guidance, and stay connected to my intuition no matter where I am.

  5. At night, my routine slows me down. I’ve been gratitude journaling for 10 + years, and it’s something I don't miss, even when I’m traveling. There’s something powerful about ending the day in reflection and appreciation. I also read a Bible verse and a short message that goes along with it, another steady practice that keeps me centered and grounded.

  6. Since 2020, I’ve also followed the rhythms of the moon. I bring my daily Moonology calendar pages (by Yasmin Boland) with me, and I genuinely look forward to reading them. It gives me a sense of flow and connection to something bigger than myself, even when I’m far from home.

  7. And then there are my mala beads. I’ve had this particular set for about three years...they were handmade in Kauai, a place that holds special energy for me. Each night, I chant a Sanskrit mantra as I move through all 108 beads. It’s meditative, calming, and deeply grounding…like coming home to myself before I sleep.

You might be wondering…why bring all of this?

Because this is how I take care of myself.

These practices help regulate my nervous system, support my health, and keep me feeling aligned, peaceful, and present. They allow me to fully enjoy the experience of travel without feeling untethered.

And beyond all of this, one of my favorite parts of traveling is simply getting outside...breathing in fresh air, walking, and connecting with nature. That, to me, is the most natural reset of all.

This is what my spiritual travel routine looks like. It’s not about doing it perfectly, it’s about creating a sense of home within yourself, no matter where you are.

I’m curious…have you ever thought about what helps you feel grounded and protected, both at home and while traveling?
