The Story of the Black Goat Sighting! A Lesson in Mindfulness

I was recently traveling in Minnesota and one evening I was going to see a college friend at her lake home about 50 minutes away. On the way there is was light out and although I always stop or swerve when animals pop out from the road ditches, this time I wasn’t able to. The vehicle passing by me on the one lane road and the vehicle behind me meant that the ring-necked pheasant was hit. Of course I started to cry 😭, ask my hubby he was on speaker with me! Grateful for his words that there was nothing I could do and it was just unfortunate timing. Then my second thought, after I calmed down, was it’s a rental car, did it do any damage? Luckily it didn’t. 🙄

Once I got to my friend’s place I checked the grill of the car and yep there it was…again I was curious to poke around a bit but didn’t. I filled my friend in on the story and she advised me to not do anything lol. We had a great time catching up while we enjoyed the sounds of the lake and our walk. It was getting dark, mind you in Minnesota the sun sets later than in New England, which was a treat! As I left her place I got the sense that I was going to see another animal, but bigger. Yes deer sightings are pretty much the norm along this stretch of road along with raccoons and other small critters. 

As I jumped on the main county road the sense got stronger so I told myself, “Don’t look at your cell or even turn on the radio, it’s all eyes on the road!” Well thank goodness I had this sense/intuition because it was getting real dark now and as I slowed to make a left turn off one county road to another I spotted something in front of me. Something dark and not moving. As I approached slowly in the left turn lane (yes it had a turning only lane) I thought I saw a dog and because (again) there was a vehicle on my butt I pumped my brakes to alert them. Then I started honking my horn. As I got right in front of “it” I discovered it was a black goat!! WAIT WHAT?!?!?! I have never seen a goat on the road and have I ever seen a BLACK goat?? 

The goat finally moved off the road so I could turn and continue on my way. Yes the vehicle behind me turned and pulled over to see it too! I am sure they were surprised too 🫣 At that moment I said this is a sign!! I couldn’t wait to get home to investigate! I safely got home after a few more sightings on the roads and googled Black Goat Sighting on road. 

What came up pretty consistently in various articles about spirituality around this encounter was a sign about turning our focus to facing challenges and drive our determination to rise the next level in life. 💫 Release any karmic, astral or vibrational ties from your awareness and body and meditating on the black goat will guide you to use these dark aspects as a place of love, empowerment and power. 🫶

This picture is very representative of the black goat but really in the eyes, they were blue and looking right at me! So I have thought about this sign every day and plan to dive deeper into this encounter.
