I often hear people tell me, “I cannot meditate, my mind is too busy” or “I don’t have time” or “I don’t know how to do it right” or “I am not disciplined enough to do it every day” So let’s take a look at these “excuses/fears”.

  1. Your mind is too busy (probably why you should try meditation 😝) but just release any expectations and simply decide to take 5 minutes to concentrate on your breathing. If you are struggling, I often recommend using a guided meditation where you are listening to words (Just Google to find on YouTube or there are apps like Calm or Insight Timer) or just breathe in saying Inhale and then release saying Exhale.

  2. Time is always something many of us struggle with and yet if it’s a priority doesn’t it always get on our calendar? 🤔 Start with 5 minutes I mean you could do this in the shower with the water washing over you or maybe you take 5 minutes to walk outside to sit on the ground while closing your eyes and just breathing. Again, start small, just start! There are soooo many benefits to meditating — IN FACT, I just watched a video from Dr. Joe Dispenza with scientific proof that meditation can impact your immunity! SerpinA5 is a powerhouse protein that has potential to help in the fight again many diseases like Covid, Cancer, Autoimmune and can be increased through consistent meditation!

  3. Am I doing it right? There is no “right”, or “wrong” way so just release it all. In the same above video I watched one of Dr. Joe’s staff who measures the brain patterns of the participants on day 1 coming to his retreats and then again after the retreat, said that even those who mentioned, “I didn’t know if I was doing it right” had the same transformation according to their brain, as those who were aware of the transformation happening to them at the retreats. So there you go the benefits come even if you don’t think you are getting anything out of it!!

  4. Discipline isn’t always easy! If you truly wish to meditate every day, then you simply need to put it in your “calendar” or get it into your routine. Once you have done it consistently for 60-90 days then it truly is routine just like brushing your teeth every morning (or at least I hope so!) For me I have been meditating in some form (I do like to change it up occasionally with what I do - listen to Dr Joe’s meditation, Mala bead chanting, plain ole quiet meditation) for years and when I miss a day for some odd reason, I notice and feel it. This is what then gets me back on track and I also have a journal where I write down what day meditation in a row it is too ✔️)

AND who knows maybe when you start a meditation practice you may be pet sitting on Maui for someone you don’t know and loving every minute of it!! 💫✨
