Floating, also known as float therapy or sensory deprivation therapy, involves lying in a float tank or cabin (what I like to call a mini pool) filled with water and Epsom salt, creating a buoyant environment that allows the body to float effortlessly. I have done this a handful of times over the last few years and each time it’s gets better!!
Someone asked me the other day about being claustrophobic and although I am not sure I would be, I decided to do the cabin over the tank. Then she asked me if I wore anything or not, I do not. I never thought to ask on my first session so I just keep doing it in the buff! Finally she asked why I did it, what are the real benefits.

Here are some of the “wellness" benefits:
Stress Reduction: The sensory deprivation aspect helps reduce external stimuli, leading to deep relaxation and decreased stress levels. The one I did on January 5, 2025 I think I fell asleep!!
Pain Relief: The buoyancy can alleviate pressure on joints and muscles, helping to relieve pain associated with conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia, or chronic back pain. However I will also advise to use the float pillow can it can be ALOT on your neck to float for an hour, learned that after my first session!
Improved Sleep: Regular float sessions can improve sleep quality by promoting relaxation and reducing insomnia.
Enhanced Mental Clarity: The meditative state achieved in a float tank can enhance focus, creativity, and mental clarity.
Increased Magnesium Absorption: The Epsom salt in the water is high in magnesium, which can be absorbed through the skin, helping to relieve muscle tension and improve overall well-being.
Boosted Mood: Floating can increase the production of endorphins, leading to improved mood and a sense of well-being.
Reduced Anxiety and Depression: The calming effects of floating can help decrease symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Enhanced Recovery: Athletes use float therapy to speed up recovery by reducing lactic acid build-up and muscle soreness.
Mind-Body Connection: Floating promotes mindfulness and a deeper connection between the mind and body.
Lowered Blood Pressure: The deep relaxation can contribute to lower blood pressure levels.
AND here are some of the “spiritual” benefits:
Deep Meditation: The sensory deprivation environment can facilitate a deep meditative state, making it easier to access higher states of consciousness and spiritual awareness. Last year before I did my first ever 72 hr Fast I got the “download” during my float that I would be successful and I was!
Heightened Intuition: The quiet and stillness of the float experience can enhance your ability to listen to your inner voice, improving intuition and clarity in decision-making.
Connection with the Self: Floating encourages introspection and self-reflection, helping individuals connect more deeply with their true selves and their spiritual path.
Enhanced Energy Flow: The relaxation and stress relief from floating can unblock and balance energy pathways, which aligns with practices like Reiki and energy healing.
Spiritual Insights: Many people report experiencing profound spiritual insights or visions during float sessions, as the mind is free from distractions and can focus inward.
Alignment with Universal Energy: The stillness and peace of the float environment can help individuals feel more aligned with universal energies, fostering a sense of unity and oneness with all life.
Chakra Balancing: The deep relaxation achieved in float therapy can help balance chakras, promoting a harmonious flow of energy throughout the body.
Connection to Nature: The experience can evoke a sense of being held and supported by the water, similar to being cradled by nature, which can foster a deeper spiritual connection to the Earth. When I miss the ocean in winter I float! 🌊
Incorporating float therapy into your wellness and spiritual routine can enhance your journey toward greater truth, peace, and alignment with your heart space. 🧘♀️
