I have talked about manifesting in the past but wished to take a deeper dive into this topic since I started reading Mind Magic, The Neuroscience of Manifestation and How It Changes Everything by James R. Doty, MD. Just in case, let’s start with a definition - manifestation is the process of bringing something into reality through focused intention, belief, and action.

How to Begin Manifesting

  1. Clarify Your Intentions-Start by clearly defining what you want to manifest. This could be a goal, experience, or change in your life. The more specific and clear your intention, the better. AND let me just say this isn’t always easy because what you want may not be what you are truly needing!

  2. Visualize Your Goal-Spend time visualizing your desired outcome. Imagine it in detail, including how it feels to achieve or experience it. Visualization helps create a mental image that aligns your subconscious with your conscious desires.

  3. Cultivate Positive Beliefs-Work on developing positive beliefs about yourself and your ability to achieve your goals. If you have doubts or limiting beliefs, try to identify and replace them with empowering thoughts.

  4. Take Inspired Action-Manifestation isn’t just about thinking or feeling; it requires action. Look for opportunities and take steps toward your goal, even if they’re small. Trust that each step is bringing you closer.

  5. Practice Gratitude-Cultivating gratitude for what you already have and for the things you want to manifest helps raise your vibration and align you with the frequency of your desires. I believe in all things just be grateful!!

  6. Let Go of Attachment-While it’s important to be clear about your desires, it’s equally important to release the need to control how or when they manifest. Trust that the universe will bring things to you in the right way and at the right time. Again not easy to be patient!!

OK we have done the work above, now what? Let’s try a breathwork activity!

Find a Comfortable Position

Sit or lie down in a comfortable position where you won’t be disturbed. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths to center yourself.

4-7-8 Breathing Technique

  • Inhale: Breathe in quietly through your nose for a count of 4.

  • Hold: Hold your breath for a count of 7, focusing on your intention.

  • Exhale: Exhale completely through your mouth, making a whoosh sound, for a count of 8.

  • Repeat: Do this for 4-8 cycles, maintaining a gentle focus on your intention with each breath.

This technique helps to calm the nervous system and create a relaxed state, making it easier for your subconscious mind to align with your manifestation goals.

Visualization with Breath

  • As you inhale, imagine breathing in light or energy that represents your desired outcome.

  • As you hold your breath, feel this energy filling your entire being, aligning you with your goal.

  • As you exhale, release any doubt, fear, or negativity, allowing space for your intention to manifest.

Gratitude Breathing

  • After completing the 4-7-8 breathing, transition into a few minutes of simple deep breathing. With each inhale, feel gratitude for your current life and for the manifestation that is on its way.

  • With each exhale, release any lingering tension or attachment to the outcome.

Close the Practice

When you’re ready, slowly open your eyes. Take a moment to ground yourself, perhaps by placing your hands on your heart or on the earth. Trust that your intention has been set in motion.

Tips:

  • Consistency: Practice this breathwork regularly, ideally daily, to reinforce your intention.

  • Mindfulness: Stay mindful of your thoughts and actions throughout the day, as they should align with the energy of your manifestation.

  • Positive Affirmations: You can enhance this practice by incorporating positive affirmations that align with your intention.
